Building a compassionate society

Zakat is one of the most important responsibilities in Islam. It allows wealth to circulate, protects the rights of those in need, and reinforces the connection between the giver and the community around them. When given properly, Zakat supports people facing real difficulty, without stripping them of dignity.

It lifts the person who receives it, but it also protects the one who gives.

We treat that trust with care. Every Zakat donation is managed according to Islamic guidance. We follow the eight categories outlined in the Qur’an, with a focus on those living in poverty, those facing hardship, and those burdened with debt they cannot repay. Our policy is reviewed by scholars, and we can provide it to anyone who wants to see how Zakat is handled.

If you are unsure how much to give, we recommend using a trusted Zakat calculator before donating. We are not here to tell you what you owe — only to make sure it is used properly.

How We Distribute Zakat - Cash Distribution

Where possible, we provide Zakat as direct cash support. This is one of the most effective ways to meet urgent needs. Families can prioritise for themselves — whether that means buying food, securing shelter, paying for medicine, or clearing debt. Needs change quickly. Cash gives people the flexibility to respond.

This approach also allows us to move faster. It reduces delay and avoids unnecessary systems that waste time and money. We do not make decisions on behalf of families. We trust them to know what matters most.

Zakat donations are held in a ringfenced fund, separate from all other income. Every payment is reviewed. Every case is tracked. If the recipient is not eligible, we do not use Zakat.

Supporting Long-Term Needs

Some Zakat is used to support longer-term projects where the beneficiary is eligible. This includes building secure homes, installing clean water systems, and helping families start small businesses to generate income.

Where Zakat cannot be used, we draw on general donations to provide additional support. We also provide training, tools, and follow-up to help people move forward with confidence. Our aim is not to create dependence, but to offer support that leads somewhere.

If you would like to learn more about how Zakat is used, or you want to ask about a specific case or project, email hello@evefdn.com and someone from our team will respond.
